Deputy Editor, Jezebel
Gizmodo Media Group (GMG), which is part of Univision's digital arm, Fusion Media Group, is seeking an experienced editor to serve as deputy editor of its women’s politics and culture site, Jezebel, which reaches some 14 million monthly readers globally.

About the Role:The ideal applicant should have an innate understanding of the news Jezebel covers and the audience it attracts, as well as exciting ideas of what the website should look like moving forward. Candidates should have experience in assigning coverage, managing a publishing queue and monthly budget, and editing longform features, reported pieces, and responses to news.
You should be fluent in the digital editorial process—from pitch to publication to promotion and discussion. Your talents will be editorial and managerial, and you should be comfortable overseeing Jezebel alone at any given time. You should bring big ideas about what a women’s website should accomplish under a Trump administration.
The ideal candidate will be ready and excited to work collaboratively with other editors.
As Deputy Editor, you should:
have experience managing writers;
be comfortable overseeing a growing staff of ~15 in day-to-day site operations, including assigning, editing, and publishing stories;
respond nimbly to cultural and news events with tonally appropriate stories;
have significant experience writing and editing for a fast-paced digital news outlet with a diverse audience;
know how to motivate a team;
assist the editor-in-chief in thinking big-picture about the scope and vision of the site, and help execute said vision across multiple platforms (site, social, video, podcasts, television)
be organized and detail-oriented;
be ambitious about Jezebel's growth in both output and audience, including across social platforms;
be eager to explore and experiment with a range of publishing platforms
The deputy editor will report to the editor-in-chief.
This position is in the WGA-E bargaining unit.
